Universities – Wonderfil
Cut plastic waste on campus while saving students money
We make refilling more affordable and convenient than buying single-use bottles by passing the savings from bulk purchasing straight to students.
Plastic toiletry bottles are one of the top sources of waste in campus housing. Wonderfil replaces them with autonomous refill stations that creates no cost for the university.
How It Works
1. Identify key campus partners
We work with your designated Partnership Lead, Communications Lead, and Maintenance Partner to streamline contracting, promotion, and rollout.
2. Coordinate campus communications
Wonderfil provides a complete communications kit—copy, imagery, videos, timing guidance—to support raising awareness on campus prior launch.
3. Students enroll directly with Wonderfil
Students opt in via our enrollment portal for a small fee that converts into refill credits and includes a free refillable bottle.
4. Determine station quantity
Enrollment numbers determine the number of stations installed. We handle installation, training, and ongoing support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this cost the university anything?
No. The program is student-funded through subscriptions. Some campuses may use sustainability grants to subsidize the program for students on financial aid.
What products do you offer?
High-quality personal care and cleaning products from trusted sustainable manufacturers (e.g., Dr. Bronner’s, Rustic Strength, ECO).
How do stations get restocked and cleaned?
On-campus staff can easily handle it in under 2 hours/week. We train and support them.
How much waste and emissions does this actually reduce?
Each station eliminates thousands of single-use bottles annually. We have an impact calculator we use to calculate emissions reductions depending on usage each term, and we share annual impact reports with the Sustainability Office.
Can staff and faculty participate?
Yes, staff and faculty can subscribe through the same portal as students.
Can non-subscribers refill?
Yes, anyone can use the refill stations using their credit card, but subscribers get a much higher discount.
How long does it take to implement the program?
About 6 months. We are currently contracting for launches in Fall 2026.
